A quality compass

by Mark -

A very sturdy and rugged compass. The mirror and sight is very helpful for shooting an accurate azimuth and the pitch measure is great for estimating the effort needed to traverse an incline. While the tool-less method of setting a declination is handy (especially if you don’t have a tool!), the method is a bit clunky and takes some work to get it positioned accurately. The up side is that you only need to do this once. A tiny inconvenience for an otherwise stellar product. Would highly recommend as a great entry-level compass or for any experience trekker.
