The Cold Steel Spetsnaz shovel – also known as their “Special Forces Shovel” and “Cold Steel Throwing Spade” – is basically a straightforward copy of the Soviet Special Forces (Spetsnaz) digging tool and looks to be nothing out of the ordinary, simply a metal shovel head on a wooden handle… however, you'd be wrong. The metal in this Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel is a medium carbon tool steel (coated to avoid rusting) and all the shovel’s edges are sharpened to give it great versatility. As a shovel it performs well and the sharpened edges help it cut through turf, roots and clay better than most, and it is ideal for moving hot coals around your fire while cooking. Overall length is 500mm with a carbon steel blade and sharpened edges all around. It has a black finish with a light brown hickory wood handle and weighs under a kilo. This smaller version Special Forces Shovel does not come with a sheath. Great quality and super strong.
