Description

Condor CTK3921-5.1HC Selknam Knife

The Condor Selknam Knife honors the aboriginal inhabitants of "Tierra del Fuego" in the extreme south of Chile. Extinguished between the 19th and 20th centuries, they were skilled hunters, fishers, and nomadic land collectors of great size and strength. The Selknam Knife has a full tang blade with a typical Condor convex edge. The back of the spine has a finger grip for use during controlled cuts. It has a Condor Classic finish and a "Coconut Breaker" for breaking or crushing elements. The back of the handle has a notch for use as a "Bowdrill" and a scraper for fire starting with ferrocerium rods, thanks to its 90° steel cut. Its wide blade and slender handle lend it to hard, heavy use and it includes a handcrafted welted leather drop sheath with 1095 flint striker. About the Designer.

Bad for striking a Ferro rod.

by nathan -

Beautiful knife great quality and same goes for the sheath I'm a massive fan, one let down which is a big one for me is the spine of the knife is no good to strike a ferro rod with, it's nearly wavy in a sense and not flat where the flint ends up having uneven surfaces causing the knife to skip, produces nearly no spark you really need to force the spine on the rod which isn't efficient at all, as well as for the designated striker on the end that's just way to small to use and is almost useless on my knife, I don't have large hands either and it's kind of dangerous using it with your hand so close to the blade, I'm no novice either I know how to use a Ferro rod. I'm a little upset the knife doesn't do all the jobs for me like I hope it would, hence the three stars.
