Thread for hand sewing.

by Matthew (Bushcrafter) -

I bought this kevlar trip line for the purpose of using as a "thread" for reinforcing seams on rucksacks, pouches, belts, bivis etc in high stress areas. Trying to source kevlar cord or "thread" in black is hard to find. It is difficult to knot, which is a good thing if you want to use it as a "trip line" to avoid tangling, but for me was annoying when starting to sew (kevlar and coating is notorious for this). Was also a pain in the a$$ to shear (i.e. cut) with scissors. I was unable to physically break the kevlar trip line with my hands. The coating does make it smooth and glide easily through Nylon and Polyester webbing, Cordura and leather and even some HW laminate and flexible plastics. So, I imagine this trip line will have minimal friction if used in intended setting out in the field. I have seriously applied maximum strength sewing flexible plastics sheets, and not once did any of the strands break. Very impressed with how strong this Kevlar Trip Line is. Highly recommend.
