The Micarta or G10 Scale handles are not only bolted to the steel, but also use a 2-ton marine grade epoxy that seals the scales to it, sealing the joint from ingress of any liquids. Another great feature to the Overland Machete is the custom molded, quick release Kydex Sheath. With a break away front loading sheath, it not only makes for quick deployment of the tool but also lessens the chance of water, grass, and mud sticking inside a traditional sheath. The Kydex can also be easily hosed out after your adventures, just make sure the machete is completely dry before storage. Handle is a natural matt finish.
