Tastes pretty good considering the shelf life

by CUST-00003275 Jeremy C Dawe -

I tried a couple of these meals to test the taste and how full they would make me feel. A few important observations that I made during the test was "Wise Foods" recommend leaving it in boiling water for 15 minutes, it's consumable at this point however the consistency and taste is significantly better at 30-40 minutes, it seems it only gets better tasting the longer you leave it to absorb all the flavours, also it's a good idea to read the back of the packs first, they have oxygen absorbers in, you need to make sure you take these out. In a survival situation you will also need 1 litre of boiling clean water for these so in addition to actually having these make sure you have viable means of storing or obtaining water.

Creamy Pasta & Vegetable Rotini: I left this one for 40 minutes before consuming.
Would I be happy with the flavour of this in an emergency situation? A resounding yes, I ate this until I was uncomfortable full.

The recommend servings are 250gms per serve, assuming you add the amount of liquid they suggest one cooked meal is about 1kg probably slightly more. I felt that 1 serve would be enough in a survival situation but a comfortable meal would likely be about 300gms, you could easily offset this with some rice such though.

Cost: at time of review these are around $4 per serving delivered, which is cheaper then most meals these days. I actually thought this meal was a good alternative if you get home and can't be bothered cooking, how easy is it to boil a kettle and let one of these soak for a while.
