Description

Frost River Itinerant Backpack (895)

“All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost. The old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by frost.” - J.R.R. Tolkien (1892-1973) A wanderer doesn’t need to live in Middle Earth to appreciate durability. 510g waxed canvas is tough; it earned the name “Tin Cloth” and its protection holds up through the ages. A full-sized laptop slips neatly into the main compartment. The outside zippered compartment offers dividers, and the inside zip pocket is ready to protect electronics, kindling, or whatever treasures you need to keep high and dry. The design is modern, but the materials remain unchanged -- tough canvas, robust leather, and solid brass. Reliable packs made in the USA at Frost River. Leather from Red Wing, Minnesota adorns the front, wide web shoulder straps and a grab handle remain at the back. If your ranging requires a trusty pack the Itinerant lives up to its name.
Details
MADE WITHOUT COMPROMISE FROM THE HIGHEST QUALITY COMPONENTS BY FROST RIVER WAXED CANVAS FROM FAIRFIELD TEXTILES
Martexin Original Wax is an authentic American product that has stood the test of time and has outfitted American workers, farmers, explorers, fighters and outdoorsmen for many generations. The Martin family has been involved in the dyeing and finishing of textiles in the United States since 1838. It is the best canvas available, and Frost River stands behind it.

LEATHER FROM SB FOOT TANNERY
The leather in the straps and reinforcements come from the SB Foot Tannery in Red Wing, Minnesota. In 1872, Silas Buck Foot began tanning leather to provide high grade footwear for fellow Minnesotans to stay warm in the winter.  In 1905 the Foot family partnered with what will become Red Wing shoes. The partnership remains to this day.

RIVETED AND SEWN
The flapstraps on the canoe packs are double reinforced - riveted and sewn. The straps hold the pack closed and often bear the weight of the pack as it is lifted into and out of a canoe. They are relied upon and must hold, therefore Frost River ensures the security of the connection by both riveting and sewing it.

SOLID BRASS HARDWARE
All of the buckles, snaps, slides, and D-rings on Frost River packs and bags are solid brass. It matters because Frost Rivers’ products will outlast brass plating. Instead of turning steel grey the hardware will develop an old world brass patina. It’s the way it’s meant to be - and has a great sound.
